Haulage and Packaging is the manufacturing side of B &
J Parr.
Currently we have a production capacity of some 8 million
dustbin liner sized sacks per week.
When manufacturing black sacks we add black masterbatch to the jazz coloured recycled pellet. This changes
the light coloured pellet into the more cosmetically accepted
jet black colour that customers request.
We are now being asked to produce more & more degradable
polythene sacks. These are sacks produced in exactly the
same way as sacks from 100% recycled material, but with
the addition of a degradable additive which will degrade
the entire polythene sack harmlessly leaving only water,
co2 and organic residue.
For white and coloured sacks produced from recycled material,
we use clear material with coloured masterbatches.
The pellet is now ready to be re-melted down and "blown"
into polythene film. The film is blown to the width and
gauge required for the finished product. Should printing
be required, this is applied at the same time the film is
blown.
The film now enters the final stage of the production process,
it is now converted into polythene sacks of required length,
either bag on roll or flatpacked - whichever is required.
Although every operator is responsible for checking his/her
own work, our quality control managers carry out stringent
checks on all orders before releasing for despatch.
Production samples are kept for a period of six months
after date of despatch as these offer traceability and identify
every operative involved with any given order.
Wherever possible, we deliver the goods ourselves, our
fleet of vehicles range in size from Transit van to 26 pallet
lorry & trailer, ensuring we have the correct vehicle for
the job. To ensure all customers receive their order with
priority we also use the services of a national pallet network
delivery company.
